Breast reconstruction is a surgical procedure that restores the look and shape of the breast after mastectomy. Oncoplastic surgery is a subset of this surgery, which is performed after a lumpectomy to restore the look and shape of the breast.

Prophylactic Mastectomy is a surgical procedure wherein one or both breasts are removed in order to reduce a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer.

Breast cancer continues to be the leading cause of cancer among women in Singapore today. It is estimated that more than 1,400 new cases are diagnosed annually, thankfully in the early, treatable stages of the disease.

One of the surgical treatments for breast cancer is mastectomy. This procedure involves the surgical removal of the entire breast, including the nipple and areola.

Surgery is the cornerstone for achieving a cure in breast cancer. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy are useful in preventing breast cancer from coming back in the breast or other areas of the body. They do not by themselves cure the patient of cancer.
